TRAGIC: 8 Die In Benin-Ore Expressway Accident (UPDATED)

At least 8 people lost their lives in an accident along the Ugbogui area of the Benin-Ore Expressway on February 12, 2014, Wednesday.
The accidents and its details were confirmed to the newsmen by the Federal Road Safety Commission Benin Toll Gate Unit Commander, Mr. Adewale Ameen, on February 13, 2014, Thursday.
He said the crash involved an 18-seater bus, marked CT 874 FST, belonging to a Pentecostal church, Lord Chosen Charismatic Movement, and a Mercedes Benz truck, with number plate MUS 570 SS.
The victims were said to be returning from a vigil. The eight people who died were two male adults, five female adults and one female child.
The official of FRSC attributed the accident to fatigue on the part of the bus driver, who was said to have rammed into the stationery truck while driving from Lagos to Benin.
“Although the bus driver survived, eight passengers died in the bus.
“It was an avoidable accident because the truck parked well away from the road,” the unit commander explained.
“From my interaction with the survivors of the bus, they had consistently warned the driver about his recklessness before the accident occurred.
“They were coming from Lagos after an all-night prayer session before the accident happened,” Mr. Ameen added.
May their souls rest in peace.
